Reverberation time or RT (60) - is a metric which describes the length of time taken for a sound to decay by 60 dB from its original level. Optimal reverberation times vary depending on room volume, intended use of the space and the frequency of transmitted sound.

STC - is measured to understand the Sound Proofing of a partition. STC method also considers measurement of the partition, volume of the room and RT (60) inside the room while calculating the performance of the partition. This method is used to understand that the partition is made as per standards the client required.

NIC- This method is also used to measure the Sound Proofing of a partition. This method does not consider the RT (60) or the partition size. This is to understand the amount of sound the client can hear across the partition. More realistic measure for most clients and also for places with high reverberation.

Source Room - This room or space is the place the speakers are placed to generated loud white noise. Source Levels measured at 3 ft. away from speakers.

Receiving Room- This room or space is the place on the opposite wall from where the speakers are placed to generating loud white noise.

Role for Testing - Sound of Silence have created the Studios using a range of materials, including APAGAR Siopi foam for absorption and isolation, fire retardant cloth, gripper system, isolation membrane, and using our professional installation format and skills. The test is performed using equipment such as high sensitivity microphone from Soft dB Canada.
